What we are doing in dance class
Students are continuing to learn different genres and styles of dances in dance class.
Grade 7's are learning a dance hall style dance while continuing to practice the other dances they have learned. They have also learned some jazz styles mixed with hip hop.
Grade 8's are working on the evolution of hip hop. They have different groups and are learning different styles of hip hop from the 1980's to 2000's.
Grade 9's have been working on a broadway dance to King of New York from the musical Newsies. Students are also currently working on a contemporary style dance.
Grade 6's are continuing with their storytelling dance creations. Once they have completed this project they will be working on dance styles from the past (Madonna, Michael Jackson, Queen etc.).
Grade 5's have settled in nicely to dance class routines. They have started their first dance project and are learning to work well in teams.
